Ghanaian musician Okyeame Quophi has dispelled the notion that all celebrities are involved in substance abuse.
Even though he never ruled out the tendencies of some people getting hooked on drugs, he emphasised that during the years his popularity peaked, he was never involved in drugs, despite being a ladies’ man.
Okyeame Quophi, who was part of former music duo Akyeame, was speaking with host of Entertainment Capital, DJ Premier on Accra100.5FM on Saturday October 15, and indicated: “When it comes to women, before I got married, I had my field to play. As a celebrity travelling around the world, you meet a lot of people and a lot of temptations arise.”
He continued: “I am one of the artistes, secular, who has done music for a very long time but never got into drugs, never drank and I never smoked.”
The sound engineer and presenter further explained that at that high point in his career, he did not know the purpose of his life as he does now.
He admitted to making mistakes along the line but said that he had now learnt a lot and gathered much experience along the line.
Okyeame Quophi, who worked with Becca on her latest hit song ‘Hwε’, is currently married to Stacey Amoateng. The couple has been married for 11 years with three children.
