A taxi driver, known as Aye, has been found dead at Half Assini in the Jomoro district of the Western Region in what is believed to be a case of suicide.
Aye, 30, was found hanging from a tree at a suburb known as Peace Town on Saturday March 11.
A resident of the area, Philomena Yirenkyi, speaking to Accra News, said the deceased took his life after a spat with his wife, Tayiba, a day earlier. According to her, in the heat of the exchanges between the couple, Tayiba had threatened to divorce her husband for cheating on her.
She explained that Aye, who has two children from a previous relationship, on the day he took he took his life had been seen going to buy banku but had been told to come later as the food was not ready, only to be found dangling from a rope tied to a tree in the area.
Police arrived at the scene to convey his body to the Half Assini Government Hospital while investigations begin.
