The 2015 Africa Nations Cup losing finalists Black Stars of Ghana set up a training camp in Congo, Brazzaville as they prepared for their Africa Nations qualifier game away in Kigali against Rwanda.
The five time Africa champions have been in Brazaville since Sunday and played against the home nation at the Stade de la Concorde de Kintele winning 3-2 with Andre Ayew scoring the winner in the 92nd minute after Congo had fought from two goals down to equal the scores in the 90th minute.
Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan says the team picked on Congo as a training base due to the good facilities at the newly built stadium in Kintele which will be hosting the All Africa Games starting September 4.
He says the stay in Congo and the training there has been great and the team worked together.
“We are happy with our training here. We have worked together with the same spirit and we are looking ahead for the game which we consider very important,” he said.
“Rwanda is a good team, they have shown that in the past and we have to be at our best. We will not under-rate them. We will give our best when we meet them and we hope to win the game,” he added.
Gyan says the Black Stars are taking a game a time and they hope to improve with every game. Ghana is in the group alongside Mozambique and Mauritius.
