The Gushegu District Assembly on Wednesday 28 June, 2017 confirmed Mr Musah Issah as the District Chief Executive of the area.
Mr Issah polled 28 out of 36 total votes cast at Wednesday’s assembly election.
Mr Issah was nominated by President Akufo-Addo after the first nominee, Yakubu Abdulai, failed to secure the mandatory two-thirds votes from assembly members.
Northern Regional Minister Salifu Saeed swore the DCE into office after the declaration.
He used the opportunity to call for calm in the area amidst reports of rising tension in the constituency over the choice of DCE. He said peace and unity are the only guarantees to the development of the district.
Mr Saeed urged the people to avoid any disturbances that will undermine the government’s development policies, adding that very soon the One Village, One Dam as well as the One Million Dollars per Constituency projects will be starting and if there is no peace in the area it risks its share of those projects.
He also charged the new DCE to serve as the father for all in the area.
Meanwhile, Mr Issah, on his part, thanked the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him. He assured them he would do his maximum best to ensure the development of the district is realised. He committed himself to work with all stakeholders to improve upon the living standards of the people.
