The Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Wednesday 30 November demoted Premier League side Dreams FC to the Division One League while Tema Youth were returned to the premiership.
It is recalled that Tema Youth appealed to the GFA claiming Dreams FC used Cudjoe Mensah who was unqualified to play when the two sides met last year in a match to decide which side qualified to the top tier league.
The GFA on two occasions ruled that Mensah qualified to play in that match. Unhappy with the outcome, Tema Youth petitioned the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
CAS ordered the GFA’s Appeals Committee to hear the case again. On Wednesday the Appeals Committee ruled that Mensah was unqualified to play in the match and slapped a five-year ban from all football activities on Dreams FC official Ibrahim Dossey Adam for signing the release letter of the player on behalf of the club.
Dreams FC were also fined GHS2500.
