The Korle Bu Senior Staff Association (KOSSA) has expressed optimism that the current government will address matters relating to financial malfeasance at the nation’s premier hospital.
It has petitioned the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, to probe the alleged financial mismanagement at the hospital.
The petition, which was signed by James Clifford Oblitey, dated 2nd February, 2017, was captioned: “Call for Probe into Unilateral Payment of about GHS306 000.00 allowance by the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital Management to itself and Allied Matters”.
It said: “This payment brings to question the competence and integrity of the Chief Executive, the Director of Finance, the Director of Administration, and the Chief Internal Auditor. It, thus, reveals how unsafe the fortunes of the hospital are in the light of such gross abuse and act of impunity.
“We are calling for probe into the allowance. This is because we realised that the board has denied any knowledge of the disbursement and if we look at the welfare of the hospital and what has happened, we think there must be a probe to retrieve those monies. We will follow up next week then we will decide on our next line of action.”
Speaking on a follow-up interview with Accra News on Monday February 13, Mr Oblitey said we have made our points in the petitioned we have presented to the minister.
“We are optimistic that the minister will act swiftly on the issues we have raised and address all the concerns.”
