The Government of Ghana, through Attorney General Gloria Akuffo, has filed a petition at the High Court as part of processes to get the Ghana Football Association (GFA) dissolved.
The move by the AG is in consonance with government’s resolve to dissolve the football management body following the unearthing of massive rot within the FA by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
Currently, resigned President of the GFA, Kwesi Nyantakyi, is being investigated by the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service for defrauding by false pretences and also for soliciting bribes in the name of President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Mr Nyantakyi was caught on camera receiving hefty wads of dollars as bribe. Also, 77 referees were caught in compromising positions.
Following the showing of the documentary, Mr Nyantakyi resigned from all football positions he holds with GFA, CAF, WAFU and FIFA. He was handed a 90-day provisional ban by FIFA before resigning.
