A former Deputy Sports Minister, O. B. Amoah, has accused the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) of misappropriating funds that should have gone into the development of sports infrastructure.
The Akuapem South legislator was of the view that his party would do better in the area of sports if voted into power in the December polls.
“We managed to raise funds to help build our sports infrastructure, but unfortunately when we left office, the plans we had for sports were collapsed by the current government. The National Sports Authority and the Sports Ministry have misapplied the funds. … It is really disappointing,” he told Class Sports.
In a related development, Sports Minister Nii Lantey Vanderpruye pledged government’s commitment to build infrastructure in order to develop sports in the country.
He cited the renovation of the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Pitch and the construction of the Cape Coast Stadium as examples.
