Some staff of the New Times Corporation are embarking on a second day of demonstration in front of their office with the aim to prevent their MD, Carol Annang, from accessing her office.
Tuesday’s demonstration has about a dozen staff participating with all of them clad in red and drumming and chanting in front of the gate of the New Times Corporation.
There are two armed police officers at the premises to main law and order.
It is, however, unknown if the police are there to ensure the embattled MD gains access to her office.
The angry staff on Monday accused Ms Annang of using company funds to buy herself an SUV while staff suffer poor conditions of service as well as hijacking the functions of the company’s Chief Accountant, Chief Procurement Officer and Chief Auditor.
In Monday’s demonstration, the staff, numbering over 50 locked out the MD. They are determined to do same today, Tuesday 19 September despite the condemnation of their action by the Board of the corporation.
Ms Annang was appointed by former President John Mahama in January 2015 for a four-year term in consonance with the 1992 Constitution.
Ms Annang attended Achimota School, and is a product of the University of Ghana where she graduated in B.Sc Administration (Accounts).
She also holds a Master’s in Business Administration (Marketing) from the University of Ghana.
Ms Annang, until her appointment, was the Chief Executive Officer of Newworld Securities Limited.
