Officials of the Ministry of Sports have assured the public that Ghana is on course to host this year’s West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Tournament in Cape Coast and Sekondi.
This was after officials of the ministry embarked on a working visit to inspect stadia and other sporting facilities within the Cape Coast and Sekondi metropolis.
Deputy Sports Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide, bemoaned the lack of a maintenance culture that has led to deterioration of most of the country’s facilities.
“Ours is a mandate not to complain no matter how huge the challenges we inherited, but to fix the challenges. And fix them, we will. So help us God!” he added.
The tournament will be staged from September 9 – 22 at the Western and Central regional capitals, respectively.
