Over 1,200 children in the Greater Accra Region last Saturday benefited from a free eye screening exercise sponsored by GCB Bank Limited.
This brings to 2,284, the number of people who have benefited from the bank’s sponsorship of two eye care projects this year.
In September this year, GCB funded an eye screening programme in Takoradi where 1,084 persons had their eyes checked and treated free of charge.
The project was carried out through a partnership between GCB and Third Eye & Vision Centre.
GCB provided the funding while the centre provided eye specialists, drugs, and related services.
Addressing the media, Mr Emmanuel Kojo Kwarteng, Corporate Affairs Officer of the Bank, said the eye care project formed part of its corporate social responsibility.
He said the bank’s CSR covers the areas of health, education, environment, culture, youth, water and sanitation.
He said GCB was committed to assisting the needy in society, hence the choice of the eye care project for funding.
