A customer of the Burma Camp branch of the GCB Bank Limited in Accra, Mr Joshua Seteklu, has won GH¢100,000 from the bank through its Big Money Promo.
Mr Seteklu emerged the winner of the promotion at its third draw held in Kumasi on August 12.
He is expected to pick up his GH¢100,000 cheque in September, when the fourth draw of the promotion will be held.
At the draw, which was the third of o its kind under the GCB Big Money Promo launched in April, this year, Madam Georgina Amankwah of the Nkawie branch in the Ashanti Region also won a five Kilovolt-amp (KVA) generator.
Other winners from the draw included Wunadin N. Nimbah of Bimbilla, Augustine Afum of Asante Mampong and Gladys Agbenu of Kpando branches, who won Samsung galaxy tab, tablet and a one KVA generator respectively.
The occasion for the third draw was used to present to prizes to winners of the second draw.
The presentation was characterised by tears and emotions.
Madam Abigail Gyamfi, who won GH¢3,000 could not hold back her tears and interspersed her appreciation speech with sobs in the full glare of guests and customers of the bank, who witnessed the event draw in Kumasi.
Madam Gyamfi told the gathering that her husband had been involved in a motor accident and hospitalised while she was looking for money to pay for the children’s school fees.
She said when she received a telephone call from GCB that she had won GH¢3,000 under the GCB Big Money Promo, all that she could say was: “this is divine intervention.”
She expressed her appreciation to the management of the bank for the initiative and further encouraged colleague customers to participate; given that it was a genuine initiative to reward customers GCB customers.
Among those took home prizes were Mr Kasimu Ashado of Yeji branch, who took home a five KVA generator set, Mr Ben Bright Caiquo of Prestea branch and won a one KVA generator set and Ms Evelyn Anima of Koforidua branch, who received GH¢2,000.
The acting Managing Director of the bank, Mr Samuel Sarpong, urged customers to take advantage of the promotion to earn some money by depositing money into their accounts.
Mr Robert Akati Adamu, Acting Chief Operating Officer, and the Head of Consumer Banking Department of the Bank, Mrs Doris Wunu presented prizes to the winners.
The draws have been conducted by the National Lotteries Authority (NLA).
The sixth-month promotion is expected to end in October. Over the period, customers who deposit or top-up their accounts with GH¢500 stand the chance of winning prizes that include generator sets, smart phones and Samsung tablets.
