Nana Danso Agyei, the Dwerebeasehene in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region, has observed that the fight against activities of Fulani herdsmen in Kwahu has been difficult because the cattle being managed by the herdsmen belong to top military, police and government officials.
According to him, although the chiefs and other traditional rulers have expressed their frustrations about the destruction of farmlands and water bodies by the Fulani herdsmen, the issues have not been resolved due to the involvement of security officers and government officials.
He told Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM on Wednesday, 15 November that: “We are aware that some ministers of state, police officers and military personnel have employed the Fulanis to manage their cattle for them, and, so, these cattle that are destroying our farmlands and water bodies belong to the ministers and the security officers.
“This could be the reason why the Fulani herdsmen are unmoved by our demand that they should stop their activities.
“This morning, we are staging a demonstration to register our displeasure against this act,” he said.
