The inability of farmers to draft good business plans and proposals for loans from banks has prompted the National Food and Agric Show (FAGRO) Secretariat to organise a training programme on proposal writing for farmers.
FAGRO General Manager Alberta Nana Akyaa Korsah, speaking on the Executive Breakfast Show (EBS) on Class91.3FM on Thursday September 29 said FAGRO’s engagements with farmers over the years have revealed that farmers need basic training in order to make agribusiness very competitive.
“In order to realise agriculture as a competitive business, basic education is required,” she said, adding: “It is not the fault of the banks that they can’t give out loans to the farmers because the farmers do not develop good proposals.”
In view of this, she told show host Prince Minkah that FAGRO had organised a three-day event at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre to train and empower farmers on how to make agribusiness competitive.
The event, which started on Wednesday, September 28, will end on Friday September 30.
