President John Dramani Mahama has assured the people of the Upper East Region that implementation of projects to fulfil some of his key promises will soon begin.
Key among the projects is the Bolga-Bawku road, which was scheduled to commence in July 2016 but has failed to take off.
Mr Mahama said: “I am happy to inform you that all these projects are progressing. The contractors have been paid their full mobilisation and they are moving their equipment to the sites.” We have put the Bolga-Bawku road on the Enhanced Fund and so there are funds to pay the contractors and so when it starts, it will continue without stopping. I want to have a first class road from Bolga to Bawku through to Pulmakum.”
Mr Mahama stated this on Tuesday, November 22 during a visit to the palace of the Bawku Naba, Abugrago Azoka II, as part of his campaign tour of Bawku.
He pleaded with the people that the Tamne Dam project had also been delayed due to heavy rains but will begin at the onset of the dry season.
“Now that we are in the dry season, the contractor has moved equipment to the site and work will soon commence on the project,” he explained.
He said the dam, when completed, will cover 1,400 hectares of land to harness year-round farming.
