The Eastern Regional Secretariat of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has donated relief items to hundreds of flood victims in the region.
Victims of the deluge at Akyem Nkronso were given the items comprising 20 packets of roofing sheets, 10 packets roofing nails, 30 bags of rice, 30 bags of maize, 100 pieces of poly-mats, 100 pieces of blanket ,100 boxes of mosquito coil, and 10 bags of sugar among others.
The donation was done by the Eastern Regional Minister, Mavis Ama Frimpong, who is also the head of the regional disaster management team on Monday September 26. She was accompanied by the National Democratic Congress’s parliamentary aspirant for Abuakwa South, Owuraku Amofa. The chief of Akyem Nkronso, Nana Danso Abbeam III, received the items on behalf of the victims
The regional disaster management team are to initiate decisions including the dredging of the Nsukwao drains and the pulling down of structures that obstruct free flow of water.
Heavy rains left two people dead and several properties destroyed in the regional capital, Koforidua, over the weekend.
