A group of 20 heavily built men stormed the Eastern regional office of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) on Monday, April 3 at about 8am and threw out the newly appointed manager.
They also allegedly terrorised workers at the office and seized their mobile phones during the operation, after which they locked up the manager’s office.
According to sources, the ‘macho’ men said they were not happy with the appointment of the new manager and wanted him out of office, hence their action.
A member of staff at the NHIA, who pleaded anonymity, said workers were surprised about the sudden appearance of the said new regional manager, adding that they didn’t even know his name.
Meanwhile, Eastern regional Police Public Affairs Officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, has assured that investigations are ongoing and the culprits will soon be apprehended.
He told Class FM: “The men had bolted by the time the police got to the scene, so the matter is under investigation now.”
