Kumawood actress, Tracey Boakye, has disclosed that she will not applaud the Akufo-Addo led administration because the condition of Ghanaians has not improved since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government came into office.
In her opinion, there is no significant achievement that has solved the plight of Ghanaians hence it will be difficult for her to praise the NPP government.
“I have nothing to credit them (NPP government) for. I have not seen anything (improvement). I have no applause for them,” she said in an interview on Accra FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo mid-morning programme on Monday, 3 December 2018.
Ms Boakye, who has produced 13 movies said “the economy is very hard” so she is deferring the production of any movies for a while.
She noted that: “Everybody is complaining about their pockets. People are worried that there is no money”.
“When there is money, that is when people will come and buy your movies, visit your salon etc. So, when there are such complains it makes it difficult to think of investing in certain things. The people who will buy and watch the movies and patronise your services are the same people crying,” she lamented.
She was of the view that: “When people have jobs that is when they get money. The unemployment situation in Ghana is unbearable yet the prices of goods and services keep skyrocketing and this makes the condition of most Ghanaians worse”.
