First Vice chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern Region, Alhaji Umar Bodinga has mounted a strong defence for the formation of another vigilante group belonging to the governing party.
The group calling itself the Eagle Forces is coming into being at a time of heightened calls for the disbandment of party vigilantism in the country.
It follows the rampaging activities of two other pro-NPP vigilante groups, Delta Forces and Invincible Forces.
But speaking to Class News’ regional correspondent Blessed Sogah, Alhaji Bodinga allayed fears that the Eagle Forces will be a violent group.
“The assurance for the Ghanaian is that our group, the Eagle Forces, is not for violence and in Eastern Region nothing like that has happened…by virtue of the training and monitoring by the party. I don’t think ours are for violence. I want to promise the whole country that as for the Eagle Forces, the region can bet there wouldn’t be any violence with this our forces,” he said.
