Speaker of parliament Prof Mike Oquaye has urged donor partners not to relent in their efforts in helping parliament to improve governance in the country.
Prof Oquaye, who was addressing a delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) led by its Country Director, Dominic Sam, explained: “From 1992 up to this day, we have done enough to show that we meet the international tenets of good governance.”
He was grateful for the support the UNDP had provided over the years.
He said donors should not grow weary in assisting parliament as he recalled that during the 1993 parliament, most of the members were new people who had no experience.
However, with the support of partners, young energetic men and women were able to stand the test of time and uphold the legislature of the country, Prof Oquaye said.
