Deputy Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew, has endorsed the Second Annual Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup with a call on his muslim brothers to continue to abide by the virtues of Ramadan and staying united and peaceful ahead of this year’s elections.
“I’m supporting the Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup because it is the biggest soccer event for muslims in Ghana which brings all of us together”, he stressed.
“The fasting time has been good and we’ve learnt a lot from the Ramadan,”Ayew added.
On his part, midfielder Mubarak Wakaso urged the Zongo youth not to do anything untoward in the run up to the elections
“We must stay united because we want peace so I will plead with you that during this election period, we must learn to be honest with each other and stay focused”, he further advised.
Goalkeeper Razak Brimah also praised the concept of the Sheikh Sharubutu Cup and urged all to support it as a vehicle through which a lot could be achieved.
“The concept of the Ramadan Cup is good because it seeks to bring the Zongo communities together to promote unity and peace during the Eid celebrations,” he contended.
Defender Baba Abdul-Rahman and striker, Jordan Ayew also expressed their support for the competition and stressed on the need to maintain good brotherhood.
The Ramadan Cup, named after the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu, is aimed at bringing together the youth in the Zongo communities to mark the Eid Fitr and is being sponsored by The Royal Bank.
