Youth and Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah has challenged Team Ghana to bring home laurels to justify the resources committed into their preparation for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Australia.
The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) on Tuesday April 4 officially launched the 21st Commonwealth Games at a short event at the press centre of the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ghana’s performance at the event, slated for April 2018, has not been the best and for this the Sports Minister has charged the athletes to be focused on winning medals for the nation.
“The more participants we send out there, the fewer medals we pick up,” Asiamah said at the launch.
“Though we believe in the Olympic philosophy of not just winning but participating, we as Ghanaians believe in winning medals for the country and specifically getting more gold for the nation.”
