Some students admitted to their selected senior high schools under the Computerised School Selection Placement System (CSSPS) lose their admissions to such schools because they report late, Kwesi Abankwa Anokye, National Coordinator for the CSSPS, has said.
Since the introduction of the CSSPS by the Ghana Education Service in 2005, several parents have complained of having their children being turned away from schools that originally admitted them for lack of space.
But responding to the issue on Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM’s Ghana Yensom, hosted by Chief Jerry Forson, on Tuesday August 16, Mr Anokye said the delay in reporting to the admitting schools sometimes resulted in such spots being given to other students.
“We give the list to the head teachers after the placement and so if you don’t report within the time frame the head will declare the slot vacant for us to fill with other students,” he said.
“If there is any reason that will prevent you from reporting within the time frame you need to notify the head of the school to reserve the slot.”
