Production of Crude Oil has finally resumed on the Jubilee field. This is what JOYBUSINESS has picked up from persons close to the operations in the Area.
JOYBUSINESS understands that production on the field began yesterday. However, because of the recent challenge with the bearings on the vessel used in collecting, processing and storing crude oil from the Jubilee, operators are producing at a very minimal level to ensure that there is not too much pressure on the FPSO.
It is however not clear for now, whether volumes of gas being exported is enough to support the power generation in the country. The FPSO was shut down some three weeks ago, because of a challenge on bearing on the vessel.
The development affected gas supplies, which nearly resulted in some load shedding in the country, increase the cost of producing power for the power generating firms in Ghana.
In a related development, Tullow Oil has announced that it is working to start exporting gas from the jubilee field very soon.
Managing Director of Tullow Ghana disclosed this at a forum with investors in Accra today. He noted that the field is currently producing about 33,000 barrels of crude a day.
He also noted work is far advance to start commercial production on the TEN field from July this year.
