The Brong Ahafo Regional chapter of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has asked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to give credit to former President John Mahama for the project he intends inaugurating while touring the country.
President Akufo-Addo, will, on Friday, 18 May 2018, begin a three-day tour of the Brong Ahafo Region.
The tour will see the president visit a total of nine constituencies, namely Nkoranza North, Techiman South, Techiman North, Asunafo North, Asunafo South, Asutifi South, Tano North, Sunyani East and Sunyani West.
Nana Akufo-Addo will, as part of the tour, cut the sod for the construction of a District Hospital at Nkoranza, commission a new Divisional Police Headquarters for the Techiman municipality, and also commission an administrative block for the Techiman North District at Tuobodom.
The president is also expected to cut the sod for the construction of an administrative block for the Asunafo North District Assembly, inspect progress work on bridge at Asumura, as well as interact with the Chiefs and people of the respective towns he will be visiting.
Speaking on the president’s trip on Ghana Yensom with sit-in host Obeng Mensah on Friday, 18 May, Director of Communications for the NDC in the Brono Ahafo Region, Adom Johnson, said: “Most of the projects President Akufo-Addo will be commissioning were started by former President John Mahama.
“We, as a party, want him to do the honourable thing by crediting former President Mahama with those projects.”
He added: “This government has gained notoriety for claiming credit for projects they did not start, to the extent that they are even removing the portraits of Mr Mahama and replacing them with that of President Akufo-Addo. That is unfair, we want them to give credit where credit is due.”
