Nana Essel Amankwado III, chief of Gomoa Fetteh Kakraba in the Central Region, has told Accra News he fears for his own life and remains in hiding following an attempt on his life this week at his palace.
The chief said he was yet to return home after some “hired thugs” stormed his compound to kill him on the orders of some persons he was in litigation with.
Narrating the incident to Nana Ama Agyarko, the traditional ruler said he was absent from home at the time they arrived and the assailants, disappointed not to find him, fired multiple shots into a vehicle parked on his compound. Nana Essel Amankwado III added that he was convinced the armed men had come to take his life after they left his palace without stealing any item or assaulting anyone.
“They took nothing. When they came they said I was the one they were looking for. And when they didn’t find me they began firing at a Toyota Lexus on the compound, four bullets in all,” he disclosed.
He was certain that the attempt on his life was instigated by one of the many persons he is in litigation with over lands under the Fetteh keakraba stool.
“It was some people who hired the men to come and kill me,” he said.
The matter was reported to the Fetteh police and, according to the chief, officers from the police headquarters in Accra had been to his compound to inspect the scene, but added that he had not been able to return home due to insecurity.
