The Accra regional police command has deployed officers to The Trade Fair site, venue for the CPP congress Saturday.
The men have been tasked to exhibit professionalism as well as work in consonance with the new innovations the police has put in place as preparation for the general elections n November this year.
Addressing the men, Accra Regional Police Commander COP George Akuffo Dampare said the CPP Congress will be a rehearsal as its first major political event for the year.
“As you are aware, the game has stared. We are using these exercise to test our preparedness for the many activities that are lined up for us during this busy and crucial year,” COP Dampare told his men.
The Convention People’s Party (CPP) is set to elect a flagbearer for the 2016 presidential elections, Saturday January 30, 2016.
Former party Chair, Samia Nkrumah, is tipped to win the slot as she faces stiff competition from former General Secretary, Ivor Greenstreet, Bright Akwetey and Joseph Agyepong.
Party delegates, over 2,500 of them, will also be voting to elect senior party officers at the International Trade Fair Centre in Accra.
