An Accra High Court is set to hear a case brought before it by the All People’s Congress (APC) against the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana over the disqualification of its flag bearer, Hassan Ayariga, from the December 7 presidential poll.
The party believes its flag bearer was wrongfully disqualified by the election management body, hence the court action.
A statement issued and signed by Razak Opoku, General Secretary of the APC, said all party supporters and members were invited to listen to proceedings in court.
The APC was one of 12 flag bearers disqualified from contesting for president. Already, the court has set October 28 to rule on a similar suit brought against the EC by the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and its flag bearer Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom.
Other disqualified parties including the National Democratic Party (NDP), the Independent People’s Party, and the People’s National Convention (PNC) are also lining up suits against the EC over what they believe is wrongful disqualification.
