An Accra High Court has closed the case in which the Member of Parliament (MP) for Klottey Korle has challenged the eligibility of MP-aspirant Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, both of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Incumbent MP and former Greater Accra Regional Minister Nii Armah Ashitey had earlier filed an application at the High Court to put an end to the case.
The court, presided over by Justice Amerley Afua Wood, decided to act on the decision by the plaintiff on Tuesday August 9, 2016 and close the suit.
Dr Agyeman-Rawlings defeated Mr Ashitey in the party’s parliamentary primaries in November last year.
Unsatisfied with the results, Mr Ashitey resorted to the court to challenge the eligibility of Dr Agyeman-Rawlings to have stood for the contest arguing that she was not a registered voter at the time of the primaries.
Dr Agyeman-Rawlings subsequently got registered as a voter during the Electoral Commission’s limited voter registration exercise a few months ago.
The Supreme Court on Monday July 18 cleared Dr Agyeman-Rawlings to hold herself out as the parliamentary nominee of the NDC in the constituency.
