Gospel musician and head pastor of the Charis International Church, Rev Josh Laryea, has disclosed that he contemplated suicide after allegations of sexual misconduct against him broke leading to his friends deserting him.
The musician, who was opening up for the first time since the allegations broke, told Berla Mundi and Giovanni on Accra-based Starr FM on Tuesday, 3 April, said: “I may have gone mad, I may have been dead… At a point, I thought of suicide…”
Rev. Josh Laryea was withdrawn from the pulpit of the Doxa Temple of the International Central Gospel Church by ICGC’s council in 2017 for alleged sexual misconduct.
A letter from the church indicated that the presbytery had authorised the disciplinary committee to look into the allegations levelled against the musician and his disengagement was to allow the committee to carry out its work without obtrusion.
After leaving the church, Rev Laryea set up Charis International Church where he is currently the head pastor.
The musician, who is set to release a new album with Nacey as producer, said a new single will be released first before the main album on his birthday.
