As part of measures to build long-lasting roads, government has resolved to construct future roads with concrete.
The Tema Steel Works road will be used as a pilot.
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia made the disclosure while speaking at a ceremony to dedicate a new temple for Harvest International Ministries in Accra on Sunday, 16 July 2017.
Citing the Tema Motorway which was built with concrete and has lasted for about 50 years, as an example, Dr Bawumia said: “That got some of us thinking and we started discussing the matter.”
The move is meant to extend the lifespan of major roads in the country as asphalted or butamin roads wash away or develop potholes in relatively short periods.
