President John Dramani Mahama on Monday September 5 inaugurated the Agona Abodom Community Day Senior High School as part of his five-day campaign tour of the Central Region.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Mahama said the school represents liberation and a guaranteed brighter future for thousands of young people.
“Young boys and girls, who, but for the establishment of these schools would have missed out on receiving an affordable yet world-class education with these community day schools; that hard working girl who could not get a place in secondary school because of limited access, can now have a heart desire and hope to access secondary education again,” he stated.
“It is humbling yet fulfilling that a brilliant young boy in a community like Agona Abodom who will ordinarily drop out of school after JHS because of limited access and financial difficulties can today pick up his books and contribute to class discussions and receive a round of applause from his peers for giving the right answers to a question posed by his teacher,” Mr Mahama added.
The president said all the constructed community day senior high schools serve as a link to the foundation for concrete hope that will secure a brighter future for pupils and serve as a catalyst for the socio-economic advancement of the nation.
He urged the community heads and school authorities not to wait for the inauguration of school projects before they begin admissions.
