The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) is threatening to lay down their tools if government fails to meet their request over a market premium.
CLOSSAG is accusing government of bias after paying interim premiums to other category of workers but has decisively ignored extension of same to their members.
They have also blamed a committee charged to work on market premiums, for recommending their exclusion from receiving market premiums.
“The subcommittee on a transition from entry market premium to implementing market premium made a compelling statement that in determining the skills that qualify for market premium, the subcommittee focused on health and education sectors as this formed the priority areas of government. CLOGSAG is of the opinion that a more competent, responsible and efficient team should be put in place to undertake this exercise.
“The interim market premium should be extended to CLOSSAG members and also the effective date should coincide with the implementation date of the single spine salary structure; that is if by July 19, 2016, CLOGSAG has not been informed about the implementation of entry market premium for its members, the national executive council has mandated the national secretariat to declare a nationwide strike.”
