The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has invited controversial musician, Kwame A Plus, and Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyepong, to aid investigations concerning corruption allegations they made against some individuals at the Flagstaff House, Class FM has gathered.
A Plus has accused John Jinapor and Francis Asenso-Boakye, both Deputy Chiefs of Staff at the Flagstaff House, of engaging in corrupt activities at the presidency.
Mr Agyepong on the other hand said there are other officials also engaged in other corrupt activities. He stated that some people at the presidency and within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are charging $20,000 from private individuals who want to gain access to President Nana Akufo-Addo at the Flagstaff House.
Mr Agyapong, who has been sounding the alarm bells within his own government, told Adom TV’s Badwam programme on Tuesday, 29 August that there is festering corruption within the Flagstaff House which is not limited to Deputy Chiefs of Staff Samuel Abu Jinapor and Francis Asenso-Boakye, who have been called out by musician Kwame A Plus as “corrupt arrogant fools”.
The CID has picked up the case to probe and establish the veracity of those claims, hence the invitation to A Plus and Mr Agyepong.
President Akufo-Addo has repetitively said his government will thoroughly investigate every corruption allegation, including those against his own appointees and ensure each is prosecuted based on evidence adduced.
He has also promised that the office of the Special Prosecutor will soon come into effect before the end of the year to independently go after corrupt officials devoid of witch-hunting.
At the governing New Patriotic Party’s national delegates’ conference in Cape Coast, Central Region, Nana Akufo-Addo said: “Let me assure you; every allegation of corruption against any member of my government will be investigated by the law enforcement agencies.” He added that: “Those who make the allegations should be prepared to support them with evidence” because “I will not supervise over a government that supports corruption.”
The president also said he has “instructed the law enforcement agencies to investigate every allegation of corruption in my government”.
