Former mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Kojo Bonsu believes Chris Hughton is a far better option to coach the Black Stars as officials look for a replacement for Otto Addo.
Otto Addo stepped down as Black Stars coach following the team’s failure to proceed to the next round of the ongoing World Cup.
A number of names have popped up to take over from where Otto Addo left off and the former Brighton and Hove Albion manager, Chris Hughton appears to be the frontrunner.
Kojo Bonsu says, Chris Hughton is the obvious choice to lead the senior national team given his emphatic commitment to the Black Stars.
“I’m in for either a local or expatriate, but also, a coach who is well committed to the team, and let’s pay him well. We like cheap labour and we need to avoid those stuff and allow the coach to make his own selections of players.”
“I will personally go in for Chris Hughton ahead of the current coaches we have if only the man is willing to do the job.” He told Akoma FM.
He further expressed confidence in the current crop of players at the disposal of the Black Stars indicating that a quality coach could help them flourish.
“We have numerous players that are very good and with a great coach, the team will go further. We should scout for a better coach and allow him to appoint his own assistant coaches,” he added.
