Ghana have been awarded three points and three goals by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for their third fixture against Morocco in the ongoing African Nations Championship(CHAN)
Ghana were billed to play the defending champions on Monday, January 23 but the match will not come off following Morocco’s decision to withdraw from the tournament.
Morocco did not show up for their first match against Sudan last Sunday which propelled CAF to take a decision to revise modalities for group C specifically.
After evaluating the reports from the referee and match commissioner, CAF has decided to hand maximum points to the other three teams; Sudan, Madagascar and Ghana. Additionally, 3 goals will be awarded to each of them as well.
Ghana who lost their first match against Madagascar will now have three points while Madagascar lead the group with six points. Sudan who are yet to kick a ball at the tournament are second with 3 points as well.
The three teams will continue to battle for two spots with Ghana taking on Sudan on Thursday evening.
Ghana will now need a win to be fully assured of proceeding to the next stage while Madagascar targets just a draw when they lock horns with Sudan in their final match on Monday.
