Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo”, Kweku Baako stated that it has come to his notice that some people are challenging where and how Anas sources funds to carry out his undercover works.
“Anas’ source of fund has never been hidden. He is a member of an international undercover agency, Tiger Eye is registered. If you have worries about his source of fund, you know where to go…. Instead of focusing on the finding, people are now focusing on his funding. He went to the Children’s Home [to investigate them]; I wonder who funded him…If the state wants Tiger Eye to aid it in any investigation, their doors are opened. He has his political preference but does his job professional without political considerations. His work cuts across regimes. He’s done work under the Presidents Kufour and Mills, and he still continues under President Mahama. He has a unique collaboration with the security agencies especially the police; he’ll investigate you no matter who you are if he has to. The subtle attempt by some persons to question his integrity is repugnant”, he stated.
But to Mr. Baako, “everybody with worries should know the appropriate quarters. He can go and investigate Tiger Eye and Anas. I will love that; the investigator, himself, being investigated. Those who have their doubts can (go ahead and do so).”
He dismissed suggestions Anas’ exposé may have been done to tarnish the image of the nation’s judiciary.
“It wasn’t a project to scandalise the judges. We all know the delicate nature because it affects one of the arms of government. It wasn’t out to just do name and shame which is essential but to ensure that the process will go beyond naming and shaming.. To the extent it will involve prosecution, conviction and sentence that could lay the basis for cleaning up the judicial arm of government. He is an investigator of a special kind and a lawyer. He could have published it like any of the investigative pieces but because of his knowledge in the constitution, he petitioned the president and the chief justice with evidence… He is hoping this serves as a deterrent to others,” Kweku Baako indicated.
