The Black Starlets of Ghana will play 2017 African U17 championship hosts Gabon later today, Wednesday 17 May, at the Port-Gentil stadium in the second match of the group stage.
Ghana will seal passage into the FIFA U17 World Cup scheduled later for this year in India should they secure victory over Gabon.
The two-time AYC winners thrashed Cameroon 4-0 in their first game and playing against hosts Gabon who lost 5-1 to Guinea should be an easy task, but ahead of the clash coach Paa Kwesi Fabin has warned against complacency.
“We are going to approach the match against Gabon with all seriousness like we did against Cameroon because there are no minnows in African football,” he said in his pre-match interview.
“We are not going to relax against Gabon but show the same attitude and alertness as we did against Cameroon. Gabon is not going to be a cheap team and we are not going to underrate them.”
In the other Group A match on Wednesday, Guinea will square up against Cameroon at the same venue in Port Gentil.
