Two police officers, Corporal Elvis Mensah and Lance Corporal Daniel Kissi, who escaped from lawful custody following their arrest by police for their involvement in an attack on a bullion van at Afram Plains, have been jailed by the Mpraeso Circuit Court.
They were sentenced to 36 months in prison with hard labour.
They were prosecuted on two counts – conspiracy to escape from lawful custody and escape from lawful custody.
The two were arrested in August 2016 after an attack on a bullion van at Maame Krobo in the Afram Plains South district of the Eastern Region, which was conveying cash belonging to GCB Bank, leading to the death of the driver and injury to another police officer.
