The five-member Ghartey Committee set up to probe the Ayariga bribery saga starts sitting today, Wednesday 15 February.
The proceedings will be telecast live on national television.
Mr Mahama Ayariga, Bawku Central MP and member of the Appointments Committee, alleged about a month ago that Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko attempted bribing minority MPs on the committee with GHS3,000 each through committee chairman Joe Osei-Owusu and Minority Chief Whip Muntaka Mubarak.
All the actors named by Mr Ayariga have denied any such event happened. Mr Ayariga and two other committee members: Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Alhassan Suhuyini, insist the bribery, indeed, took place, and, so, petitioned the Speaker of Parliament to have the matter probed, thus, the setting up of the Ghartey committee.
The first hearing, starting on Wednesday, will see Mr Osei-Owusu appearing as the first witness.
