Ghanaian boxing prodigy Isaac Dogbe has expressed confidence of defeating Filipino Neil John Tabanao on Friday August 26.
The Ghanaian has been in red hot form picking up 14 wins in all 14 bouts since turning pro after the London 2012 Olympics.
“I can only give glory to the Lord for everything that he is doing in my life. I am very honoured to have the support of such a great nation behind me and all my fans who always come in their numbers to support me. Friday would be a great night and I want to encourage everyone to come to the Police Fitness Centre to come support me to win this fight. If you are a boxer, you have to train. You train insane or you remain the same. So, I believe that at the end of the day, every boxer has to train to make things happen,” he told Class Sports’ Kwame Dwomoh-Agyemang.
Meanwhile, boxing promoter Yoofi Boham has backed Dogbe to make it big in boxing.
Mr Boham has been a big part of many Ghanaian boxers including the legendary Azumah Nelson, who he supported to become world featherweight and super featherweight champion.
“Talk of Isaac Dogbe, the young star who is coming up. When the father says: ‘Sit here’, he sits there. The father doubles as the coach as well. Right from day one till present – and the little time they have had me to be their closest adviser – I have studied the boy and honestly, I don’t know of anything that I can say about the lad. He will go places,” Mr Boham remarked.
