The people of Dzindziso in the Kadjebi district had a windfall when the registration number of a bird suspected to have migrated from Germany turned out to be two of the numbers on the National Lottery Authority (NLA) draw last Saturday.
Almost everyone in the community was said to have won the lottery on that Saturday with some winning as much as GH¢4,000.
Speaking to The Mirror on the fortune, a teacher in the town, Mr Maurice Aniawu, said a hunter shot the bird and brought it back home and noticed a ring with the inscription “JC 10802 Germania” tied to the legs.
He said the people interpreted the registration number as lottery numbers and invested in them only to enjoy a windfall on Saturday.
Mr Aniawu said the hunter had spotted three birds and shot at them but was able to kill one which resulted in the good fortune.
