Tahibu Osman Kika, Spokesperson for the Bimbilla Regent, Naa Yakubu Andani Dasanaa, has said the judgment given by the Supreme Court that the Dasana Andani family is the rightful heir to the Bimbilla Skin in the Northern Region, is satisfactory.
According to him, the ruling has brought to an end the protracted dispute which has led to deaths and destruction.
He told Chief Jerry Forson on Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM on Thursday 24 May that: “We were very satisfied with the ruling delivered by the Supreme Court.”
“We all have to come together to ensure unity, we don’t want to deepen any wounds, and, so, we won’t talk so much about the development,” Osman Kika added.
The apex court’s ruling on Wednesday, 23 May 2018 is an affirmation of an earlier verdict by the National House of Chiefs.
The case was sent to the Supreme Court by the late Nakpa Naa, Salifu Dawuni, after the National House of Chiefs ruled against him at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region and declared the late Naa Dasana Andani Yakubu II as the rightful heir.
However, the Supreme Court indicated that the late Nakpa Naa Salifu Dawuni’s case lacks merit and ruled in favour of the Dasana family.
This is expected to end the protracted chieftaincy dispute between the two factions that has spanned for several years.
