Ghana prodigy Bernard Mensah is still without a Spanish La Liga debut for Grtafe after warming the bench in their 3-1 away loss to Athletic Bilbao on Sunday afternoon.
The 19-year-old touted as the next big thing in Ghana football watched the entire game from the bench at the Estadio San Mames as another game went without him tasting action.
Getafe manager Fran Escribá did not see the former Votoria Guimaraes playmaker as an option as he exhausted all his three substitutions during the tie.
The home side took the lead in the sixth minute when Aritz Aduriz latched on to Benat’s cross into the box to head into the net from close range.
Bilbao doubled their lead when Raul Garcia made a surging run into the box to get on the end of Markel Susaeta’s cross and head the ball beyond Vicente Guaita.
Getafe reduced the deficit when Alvaro Medran teed up Velazquez on the edge of the box and he found the bottom corner with his low strike.
Arduriz did notch his second goal of the match to seal the win for his side when he slotted the ball past Guatia after collecting Javier Eraso’s through-ball.
The 31-year old is yet to make his debut in the Spanish top tier for the Basque side since joining them from Rayo Vallecano. Vallecano terminated the Ghanaian international’s contract only months after he joined the side.
Mensah has warmed the bench in all of Getafe’s opening three games of the Spanish Primera Division
