Bechem United managed to hold Asante Kotoko to a 1-1 draw at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, frustrating the Porcupine Warriors on Sunday.
Augustine Okrah, a former Kotoko player, proved to be the thorn in his former team’s side as he cancelled out Kotoko’s early lead. The Hunters, avoiding defeat, maintained their unbeaten streak of three games.
Kotoko started the match brightly, taking the lead through Peter Acquah in the ninth minute. However, they struggled to maintain control of the game, allowing Bechem to gradually get back into the contest.
Okrah equalised nine minutes into the second half and even had another goal, but it was disallowed as the attacker was adjudged to have handled the ball before volleying into the net.
The draw leaves Kotoko with only two wins this season, accumulating 10 points from a possible 21 after seven games. On the other hand, Bechem picked up their second point of the season away from home.
In other league matches, Nsoatreman secured a significant win against Berekum Chelsea, earning them the top spot in the Ghana Premier League. Maxwell Konadu’s side delivered a strong performance at the Golden City Park, positioning themselves as early league leaders.
Meanwhile, Heart of Lions continued their draw streak, registering their sixth straight draw of the season with a goalless result against Karela United. The newly promoted club is yet to secure a win this season, and they have maintained an undefeated record, a rarity in the league.
Legon Cities secured a victory against Dreams FC with a second-half penalty from Jonathan Sowah. Reigning champions Medeama secured their second consecutive win with a hard-fought victory against Samartex in Tarkwa. Aduana FC made an impressive comeback, securing a 3-1 win against Real Tamale United in the Northern Region.
