The remains of the former editor of the Daily Telegraph newspaper, Bismark Bebli, have been interred at his hometown, Whuti, in the Volta Region Saturday, March 11.
The late Bebli, who turned 48 years on 13 January, 2017, died the same day after an Urvan mini bus knocked him down together with a policeman in front of the Kasoa police station and was later pronounced dead at the Kasoa Polyclinic in the Central Region.
Mr Bebli’s family has since petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to investigate the circumstances leading to his death.
A funeral service for the late journalist was held at the Sureway Assemblies of God Church in Kasoa, before his remains were conveyed to his hometown for burial.
Meanwhile the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has said that the burial does not bring finality to the case and expects the police to continue with its investigations.
GJA president Affail Monney told Class FM that the association was still “trying to get to the bottom of the circumstances under which Bismark died… We want to tackle the issue from many fronts and the IGP referred the case to the Homicide Department and we believe the truth which surrounds the circumstances should be unfolded and all that we can do is to exert pressure until that is done.”
He said the association would then take an action based on the findings.
