The General Secretary of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU), Solomon Stephen Ashalley Kotei has charged Ghanaian workers to stay abreast with modern trend of technology in the field of work to avoid being victims of employee layoffs.
According to him, the emergence of technology is becoming a threat to job security since the use of machines is preferred by employers at the expense of human capital.
Mr Kotei said these at the ICU’s delegate conference held in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region on Friday, 18 August 2017.
Mr Kotei who contested unopposed was reelected to serve as the ICU’s General Secretary for the next quadrennial.
He also pledged to work towards protecting the interest of members of the union.
