Ashantigold head coach Bashir Hayford has resigned from his post.
He resigned on Friday March 31. Mr Hayford’s decision comes after he was given a three-match ultimatum by the club to redeem the club from the bottom of the league table.
Portions of his letter read: “This is the day the Lord has made for me to hand over the technical baton of Ashantigold Sporting Club to another person to steer the technical affairs of the club. My best has not been enough for the club and the best honourable thing is to resign honourably without any prejudice.
“Necessary evils are sometimes committed in order to put things right. I thank management. Although it might be a bitter pill to some, I sincerely apologise for that. The opportunity given me to win five more trophies including the league trophy for nineteen (19) years is well appreciated. It does not take the frog too long to jump out from boiling water. Thank you very much. I wish the team all the best because the future is bright for these nineteen (19) new players brought together two weeks to the start of the league.”
