BOST should prepare to pay compensation – COPEC-GH
The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers, Ghana (COPEC-GH), Duncan Amoah, has warned that the Management of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) Company Limited should be prepared to pay compensation to owners of vehicles whose engines would be damaged following the existence of contaminated fuel on the market.
According to him, all legal means would be used to ensure that BOST pays the compensation to the vehicle owners.
BOST has been accused to releasing onto the Ghanaian market contaminated fuel, a development which many fear will damage engines of vehicles and other equipment that rely on fuel to operate.
Speaking on the development in an interview with Accra News’ Obeng Mensah on Tuesday June 27, Mr Duncan said: “BOST should be prepared to pay compensation to some Ghanaians whose vehicles have been damaged by the contaminated fuel.
“In the meantime the CEO of BOST must be arrested and be questioned on why he allowed dirty fuel onto the market The so called technical team that is working at BOST must also be questioned.
He added: “We believe that the government has the capacity to handle this immediately.”
In a press statement issued earlier on Tuesday June 27, COPEC-GH said: “One would have thought a company like BOST will at all times work with the public interest as the primary objective, but the selfish interests and greed of some management persons including the MD seem to have taken the best part in this cruel transaction without any proper prior or post sale and discharge impact assessment done.”
