A legal Practitioner and aide to former president John Dramani Mahama, Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, has revealed that the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi is owning the Financial Institution Exim Bank an amount of Ghc 19 Million and might be debt if NDC comes to power
In an interview on an Accra based radio station, Okay FM monitored by Voicefmonline.com, lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe alleged that Chairman Wontumi has gone for a loan at the Exim Bank for some years now and has not been able to pay back.
“do you know why Chairman Wontumi is doing what he has been doing, he is owning Exim Bank, he has gone for over Ghc 19Million loan from Exim Bank under One District One factory”
He said Chairman Wontumi has used those monies for his radio station and he is now in a state of fears that when the National Democratic Congress comes to power they might take over his property for refusing to pay such huge amount
He added that Chairman Wontumi went for the loan to invest in a project which didn’t yield any profit, however couldn’t pay the Exim Bank.
“So he is afraid that when NDC comes to Power they will ask him to pay the money and when he is not able to refund the money they will go to court for proceedings in order to take over his properties. He is not having it. He has used the only money he has for a radio station”
“he is owning Exim Bank Over Ghc 19Million and the project he took the money for didn’t yield profit for him so he is afraid when the NDC comes to power the state will go for his properties”
Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe said he has an insight information from the bank and what he is saying is a fact
According to lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe, Chairman Wontumi is just bragging for having money however has not been able to pay the due loan amount he went to take at the Exim bank
“I have my internal sources at Exim Bank so they have given the round-down. He is owning big time because the project didn’t give him dividend”
